He has played a key role in developing non-invasive markers of fibrosis and advancing disease and is regarded as an international expert in liver biopsy interpretation, editing the major international textbook in this field. He previously held senior leadership roles at Newcastle University in the UK and in the UK NHS. He is Executive Dean at the University of Adelaide.
